During that time, we learned a lot about what the future of work and life looks like in a world that doesn&#8217;t depend on traditional employment.<\/p>\n<p>Now, we&#8217;re taking what we&#8217;ve learned and helping people around the world build\u00a0communities and spaces that help people\u00a0transition from dependence to interdependence.<\/p>\n<h3>VISION<\/h3>\n<p>We envision a world in which&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>employment is considered only one of a great many paths for someone&#8217;s professional aspirations.<\/li>\n<li>people work for themselves but feel as if they\u2019re a part of something bigger that supports them.<\/li>\n<li>people can feel just as secure working for themselves as they might\u00a0when working for someone else.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>MISSION<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019re here to&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>show people how awesome life can be when you work for yourself in community with others doing the same.<\/li>\n<li>instigate the development of collaborative communities everywhere.<\/li>\n<li>support those among us who are organizing independent workers in new and valuable ways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>BELIEFS<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">We believe&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">the\u00a0future is one in which traditional employment is no longer the norm.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">collaborative communities provide the support that many people need to feel strong enough to make this transition.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">an attitude of relentless positivity always yields the most effective results.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">community is more than just a marketing term.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">the least interesting part of a shared workspace is the workspace.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">when\u00a0people form good relationships with each other, good things happen to everyone around them.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">people who feel a sense of agency over their professional destiny are less prone to be afraid or manipulated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>VALUES<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">We espouse values that help people shift their\u00a0focus&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">from <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>hoarding<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>sharing.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">from <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>hierarchies<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>networks.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">from <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>individualism<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>mutualism.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">from <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>value chains<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>value cycles.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">from <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>competition<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>collaboration.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">from <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>dependence<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>interdependence.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">from <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>one form of capital<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>all forms of capital.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Read more about <a href=\"http:\/\/nwc.co\/3\/backstory\/\">our backstory<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/nwc.co\/3\/manifesto\/\">our manifesto<\/a>.<\/p>\n&nbsp;<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"excerpt\">WHAT WE ARE New Work Cities connects, educates, encourages, and inspires people everywhere to join, start, host, or support collaborative communities of empowered workers.
