New Work City is a coworking space and center for independents. Built as a community first and a business second, New Work City is the collective result of the participation of countless people who believe in its mission and subscribe to its values. For more on New Work City and its history, head here!

What are New Work City's core values?

New Work City represents a community of people who share a common set of core values. These values have been adapted from some of the earliest and best-established coworking communities, in particular Citizen Space and Indy Hall:

Community: Everyone at New Work City shares a mutual spirit of sharing among fellow members.

Openness: There's no application process here. Our community is self-selecting and welcoming to anyone who is willing to participate and respect the community.

Participation: New Work City is not just a place to work, but a place to talk, befriend, and collaborate with fellow members.

Sustainability: Operating on its own without the need for or influence from ongoing external subsidy, New Work City is designed to be a self-sustaining community that exists so long as its participants need it to.

Working at NWC What do I have to do to become a member of NWC?

We like to keep it super simple:

  1. Show up
  2. Bring some work to do
  3. Don't be a jerk

No appointment needed, no application process required. Our community is self-enforcing-- that means if NWC is not for you, you'll probably realize it pretty quickly.

We ask newcomers to spend a day at the space before starting their membership.

What are your hours?

We have two different sets of hours:

Public Hours for visitors and first-timers
Monday thru Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm

Hours for members
Monday thru Friday, 9:00am until the last person we trust to lock up leaves. We do make 24x7 access available to a limited number of members; we are working on expanding this over time.

How do I know if I'm a good match for NWC?

There's no better way to know than to try it out for a day and find out for yourself. It's stupid easy! You're likely to be a good fit if most of the following statements are true of you:

  1. You can do your work at a desk in a chair.
  2. Your work is portable.
  3. You like the idea of working alongside awesome, creative people.
  4. You would otherwise be stuck working in your home, a cafe, or a cubicle rental suite.
  5. You are awesome, and like being around people like you.
Am I leasing space from you?

You're not. We are a memberhsip-based organization; your membership grants you access to shared use of our space.

I don't really need the coworking or the community thing, I just need private meeting room space and/or a business address. Cool?

Not here. If you don't have any intention to participate in the community, you probably will be better off seeking services elsewhere. The city has lots of super cheap options for mailing addresses, conference room rentals, and cubicles. By contrast, we are in the business of community and not office space.

I would like to pitch my products or services to your members. Shall we set up a lengthy meeting so I can pitch you personally?

If you'd like to work with us, please ensure you show us how your values are aligned with ours. Our primary interest is in protecting and preserving the integrity of our community.

Events at NWC I organize a monthly Meetup group (or something similar) and am looking for a home for my people to gather. Can you help?

Perhaps! Our NWCU program is home to many fantastic Meetup groups. If your group's values are aligned with ours, you may want to apply here! We consider new groups on a quarterly basis.

I teach a paid class. Can you accommodate?

We're developing this now! For starters, fill out this form and we'll get in touch!

How do I rent your space for my event? What are the costs, amenities, etc?

We occasionally rent out our space for events that are beneficial to our community. In order to be able to determine whether we can accommodate you and what the price would be, we need all the information from this form.

How many people does your space hold for an event?

Classroom style (seated in rows with tables): 35

Seminar style (seated in rows without tables): 65

Party style (standing room): 200
