The world is in the midst of a work revolution in which millions of people will pursue independent careers for the first time. Traditional employment structures are giving way to more autonomous lifestyles where individuals choose where, when, and how they work. This is a good and healthy thing, as people who work for themselves are inherently more likely to be working on something that they care about. When someone is passionate about the work they do, they can create amazing things, and be happy doing it. That’s good for them and good for the economy.Managing an independent career without help, however, is extremely difficult.Forgoing a job to be your own boss is like moving out of your parents’ house. You love having nobody telling you what you can and can’t do, but if you don’t grow up fast, the trash will pile up, the bills won’t get paid, and you’re quickly going to run out of clean laundry.
No one masters self employment without help from others. As more and more people pursue independent careers, the need for structure, education, and shared accountability grows accordingly. Just as industries have risen to accommodate the needs of a white collar employed workforce, so too will new services be built for the new independent workforce.
To this end, we provide a platform that allows participants to to create programs that are geared toward this goal. These efforts take the forms of classes, workshops, coworking sessions, mentorships, speaker series, and more. The program is driven by a core belief that each participant has something to teach and something to learn from everyone else.
